Greek-Canadian star Nia Vardalos confirmed she is working on a sequel to her 2002 romantic-comedy Indie hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
The 51-year-old confirmed via Twitter that the "entire big fat family" would be "invited back for the sequel."
The sequel film would be produced by Gold Circle, HBO Films and Playtone, the production company co-founded by actor Tom Hanks.
Written by and starring Vardalos, the original MBFGW film was shot on a budget of only $5 million but went on to gross $350 million worldwide, making it the highest grossing romantic-comedy of all time. The funny flick secured an Oscar nomination for Vardalos's script.
The cast also included John Corbett, Lainie Kazan, Michael Constantine and Andrea Martin.
"Now that I'm experiencing motherhood I feel ready to write this next chapter," Vardalos tweeted. "A few jaded press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true."
John Stamos wants in on the recently announced My Big Fat Greek Wedding sequel! He recently tweeted to Greek-American producer Rita Wilson (wife of Tom Hanks).
