Rita Wilson adds ‘singer’ to her resume; releases debut album “AM/FM” PDF Print E-mail

Actress, producer and now singer, Rita Wilson returns to her first love with the release of her debut album “AM/FM”. Appearing in over 60 films and television shows like “Sleepless in Seattle” and “It’s Complicated”, and producing box-office hits like “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” and “Mamma Mia!”, this Greek-American (wife of Tom Hanks) triple threat is ready to show the world her passion for music.

What had only been a dream for Rita is now a reality. Though she can’t play an instrument, nor has ever written a song of her own, Rita does, however, have a voice that is sensuous and sweet. After a trip to Broadway during the summer of 2006, where she starred as Roxie Hart in "Chicago" her passion for music was reignited.

The album, which was released on May 8th, is a selection of Rita’s favourite songs with her own expression. A nostalgic homage to classic songs from the 60’s and 70’s, the album, which Rita calls “the soundtrack” of her life, recaptures the songs she heard during her adolescent, innocent and rebellious years, while growing up in Hollywood. The AM side is dedicated to classic pop covers, while the FM side is folk rock. Rita goes old-school on this album, even down to the CD art, which is made to resemble an old vinyl record.

Featuring the voices of artists like Sheryl Crow ("Angel of the Morning," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?"), Chris Cornell ("All I Have to Do Is Dream"), Faith Hill ("Love Has No Pride") and many others, the album is a wonderful collection filled with heart and soul.

There’s no question about it, Rita Wilson is definitely a woman of many talents. We can’t wait to see what she has for us next.
