Above the beautiful Boutari Winery in Santorini, Greece

In 2013, an estimated 18 million tourists travelled to Greece. Millions of those tourists (and countless celebrities) visited the honeymoon island of Santorini! With a breathtaking sunset/sunrise view of the Mediterranean Sea the magical island is a must see gem of the Greek islands.

On the island we discover the beautiful Boutari Winery on the road to Faros, past Akrotiri. Evidence and testimonies of viticultural activities date back to the pre-historic phase of the island, before the great volcanic explosion around 1.500 BC. In the mid 1980s, the Boutari company began its active involvement with the vineyards of Santorini, one of few vineyards that has never been affected by phylloxera (a nearly microscopic root insect, similar to an aphid, that attacks the roots of grape vines

Boutari has won the "Winery of the Year" Award for 16 consecutive years from Wine & Spirits Magazine!
