Fossil Group, Inc. : Founded in 1984 in Texas
Fossil Group, Inc. is an American designer and manufacturer of clothing and accessories, primarily watches. Their brands include Fossil, Relic, Abacus, Michele Watch & Now Coach NY, Skagen, and Zodiac Watches.
Fossil also makes watches for designer brands such as Michael Kors, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Burberry, DKNY, Adidas, Emporio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, Diesel, Kate Spade, Columbia Sportswear and Armani Exchange.
In 1984, Greek-American Tom Kartsotis, then a 24-year-old college dropout was scalping tickets outside the Texas Stadium for a living and started making cheap fashion watches in Hong Kong under the name Fossil. His older brother Kosta, a former Sanger Harris executive, helped get the line into department stores.
There are 364 Fossil store locations across the US, there is even one in New York's Grand Central Station:
The two Greek-American brothers, Tom and Kosta Kartsotis, are extremely private and have absolutely zero photos of themselves anywhere on the web. In fact, they refused to send photos to Bloomberg, Forbes and other media outlets when they have been included amongst the most wealthiest CEO's in America.
Bravo to the Kartsotis brothers who are now amongst the wealthiest Greek-Americans. Living proof that with determination and drive...impossible is nothing.
